The first Chamber Music Festival took place in 1986. Ever since it has been a yearly event focused on high quality. Our festival is well known all over the country and even abroad. The founder, Rune Jönsson, once went to KUHMO in Finland and picked up, what he thought was, a great concept. Today we are still using that concept; high quality when it comes to music as well as musicians, simplicity meaning no demand concerning clothing - (you can perform in a tuxedo or in a T-shirt, and finally, a very friendly atmosphere.

This summer we are celebrating our 31th Festival!

For the third year we will use the new Concert hall - Musikverket (Music Mill) - in the Cultural Centre. Rehearsals take place here throughout the day while concerts are given here every evening. Outside the Concert hall, the audience and musicians mingle and refreshments are served.

Musicians and their families are invited to stay in the outdoor recreational paradise of Högbo complete with swimming, golf, mini-golf, jogging trails, canoeing and wonderful scenery.

Tobias Carron, flutist, and Mats Widlund, pianist, are continuing their successful partnership as the festival´s Artistic Directors.

Högbo is an excellent place to visit to fill the time between concerts. The old hammer forge was consolidated into a factory in the mid-17th century. Högbo Bruk, with its manor houses, red-timbered buildings, hammer forge, mill and park with river, is the perfect place for a stroll.
